It is the peer-reviewed journal of the Language and Literacy Researchers of Canada (LLRC) http://www.csse-scee.ca/cacs/LLRC/index.htm of the Canadian Society for Studies in Education.
Two issues are published each year (Spring, Fall or a special conference issue), the latter edited by guest editors that includes papers from the LLRC annual conference. Papers should normally be between 6000-8000 words in length and must include an abstract of approximately 50-100 words.
The 2012 acceptance rate for Language and Literacy was 4.7%.
Language and Literacy was founded in 1999 by Ingrid Johnston and Jill McClay of the University of Alberta, and by Rebecca Luce-Kapler and Sylvia Pantaleo of Queens University.

| Studies from around the world have shown that singing is a powerful practice that can promote a variety of positive benefits including bonding and trust between people such as mothers and children, problem solving, socialization, creativity, physical development, and language and literacy development, to name only a few (e.g., Booch & Hachiva, 2004; Campbell, 2010). To further illuminate the relationship between language, literacy, and singing, we are seeking paper submissions for a special issue of Language & Literacy: A Canadian eJournal from interested scholars. |

L&L wishes au revoir to its trusty editorial assistant, Zheng Zhang as she takes on new and interesting challenges.
